What is Web Applications? Web application is a self-contained part of website that is accessed over a network such as the Internet or an Intranet. The application can be as simple as a guest sign-in book on a website, or as complex as a spreadsheet. Developers commonly use a combination of server-side script like ASP, PHP, etc and client-side script like HTML, JavaScript, etc to develop the Web applications. The presentation of the information is done at client-side while storing and retrieving the information is done at server-side. The advantage of web application is that it is independent of computer operating systems since client runs application in a web browser and he could be using any OS from Mac, Windows XP or Windows Vista or browser like Internet Explorer or Firefox etc. Some times though specific browser is required to run a web application. Some of the well known web application includes Google Apps, Microsoft Office Live, and WebEx WebOffice etc.
